Forester Time with Gavin Livingston: Forestry 101. Managing today's forests for tomorrow's generations

Lesson Overview:

Within this ForestLearning Forester Time video, join Gavin Livingston from VicForests as he shares more about the wonderful, sustainable world of forestry. Join Gavin as he takes a closer look at his experiences in forestry and his training and career journey, the need for wood and timber, the different parts of the forest and wood product industry and where a career in forestry can take you! Also learn how his work is truly making a world of difference in growing healthy forests that store carbon and fight climate change, and how they are working to produce the ultimate renewable resource.

This recording was presented in November 2020 for ForestLearning and Primary Industry Education Foundation's Forester Time live school webinar event for high schools.  This webinar follows a successful series of similar webinars held earlier in 2020 and continues to connect teachers and students directly with forest and wood processing professionals, out in the field, in real-time. Forester time is basically a field-trip with field host, but with none of the risk, hassle or expense!

The initiative allows students to learn more about the daily work of foresters, sustainable forest management and career pathways.
