New George the Farmer in the classroom videos
18 August 2022
Three new George the Farmer ‘In the Classroom’ clips are now available to watch in your classrooms.
The videos feature Simone, Ben and our friend and ABC TV star George the Farmer as they explore Australia’s forests, where wood and paper come from, as well as demonstrate hands on activities featured in the George the Farmer Sustainable Forest Management Educators Toolkit produced with ForestLearning.
Video topics accompany the hands-on activity fun you can do around your school or home found in the George the Farmer’s Educator Toolkits on Sustainable Forest Management
- Tree counting. Meet Expert Forester Sarah Madison as she shows George, Ben, Simone and students how foresters count trees using drones. Then follow George the Farmer, Simone and Ben as they head out to George’s farm to count his trees! You can join in the tree counting fun around your school or home by using ‘Activity 6 – The Big School Tree Count’ found in George the Farmer’s Educator Toolkits on Sustainable Forest Management.
- Tree planting. Join George, Simone and Ben as they investigate tree planting in this episode of In the Classroom. A great accompaniment to National Schools Tree Day!
- Carbon storage. Join George, Simone and Ben as they investigate the amazing way that trees store carbon from the atmosphere in their wood and how we can measure this for ourselves using the Tree Carbon Storage Tape Measure in this episode of In the Classroom.
After watching the videos, your classroom can plant, count, measure and hug some trees (while investigating their carbon storage) supported with resources freely available to download online in the George the Farmer’s Educator Toolkits on Sustainable Forest Management.
