How is Carbon Stored in Wood Products?
Lesson Overview:
This resource examines the properties of carbon and how to use formulas for calculating carbon storage sequestration. It provides information on how some carbon is lost during the processing and manufacturing of wood, whilst most is recovered and used and then stored for the life of the wood product.
Aligns with the Australian Curriculum for Year 10 Science – the periodic table, chemical reactions and their products and the carbon cycle.
This resource could also be used as a ‘real world’ activity for year 8 Mathematics studying volumes and conversion calculations.
